2020 RHGC President’s Cup Tournament Flyer PDF

Date: Saturday October 24th and Sunday October 25th, 2020 (sign up by Thursday October 22, 2020)

** Weather Permitting ** (If there is a rain out on Saturday, then Sunday will become a 2-Person best ball, Gross and Net, against the entire field, prizes awarded based on number of participants per USGA recommendations.  If Sunday’s round gets rained out, then all money will be refunded to the paid participants, no makeup will be made.)

Time: AM times as determined by Pro Shop

Cost: $20 / person

Format:          

  • 2-person best ball, MATCH PLAY, with handicap (no gross),
  • Tees: *Men = White, Women = Red
  • *HYBRID TEES for those qualifiers who declare this option
  • 4 teams per flight (flights determined by combined team handicap and committee discretion)
  • 4 – 9 hole matches (2 on Saturday, 2 on Sunday)
  • Each 9 hole match is worth 10 pts
    • 1 pt for a hole won
    • ½ pt for a hole halved
    • Outright win of a 9 hole match earns your team an additional 1 pt
    • A halve of a 9 hole match earns your team an additional ½ pt
  • Play each team in your flight once over the course of the first three 9-hole matches
  • Within each flight, the top two point earning teams after the conclusion of 27 holes, play against each other in the fourth and final 9-hole match
  • Within each flight, the bottom two point earning teams after the conclusion of 27 holes, play against each other in the final 9 hole match.
  • Cumulative team point totals from the first three 9-hole matches DO NOT reset for the final 9 hole match, so every team is still “alive” and technically the 3rd/4th place teams still have a chance to move up into the money positions.
  • Within each flight, the team with the most cumulative points wins 1st place, the team with the second most cumulative points wins 2nd Tiebreakers will be determined by conducting a sudden death playoff hole at the discretion of the Tournament Committee / Head Pro.  (If a member of the Tournament Committee is involved, then the playoff will be conducted at the sole discretion of the Head Pro.)

Prizes: Pro Shop credit for top two teams in each flight (money stays within each flight)

Time:               Saturday and Sunday Tee Times (starting @ 9:00 am — every 10 min. thereafter)

Cost:                $20 / person

Format:   

  • Sign up individually in the Pro Shop
  • Team “USA” and Team “EUROPE” will be selected by Head Pro Landon Decker and Assistant Kevin Davis based on the complete sign-up
  • Teams and Saturday Matchups will be announced in the afternoon on Friday Oct. 16th
  • Saturday October 17th
    • Front 9 = Better Ball
    • Back 9 = Modified Alternate Shot (everyone will tee off, select best drive and alternate from that point forward based on who hit the tee shot)
  • Sunday October 18th (pairings and times will be announced on Saturday October 17th)
    • Singles
  • Men play from WHITE tees, Women play from RED tees
  • Food following SATURDAY play is dependent on number of tournament participants (cash bar)

Big – Little

Date: Sunday October 11, 2020 ** Weather Permitting **

Time: 2:00 PM (tee times beginning at 2:00 PM, as issued by Pro Shop) Sign-Up by Friday, October 9th

Cost: $5 / child (small fee goes toward prizes/gifts)

Open to all members and their children/grandchildren/nieces/nephews/etc. Geared towards children between ages of 5 to mid-teen, but any ages are welcome.

Food will not be included as part of the event fee, but families will be able to order off The Grill Room menu.

A complimentary cart will be provided to the adult member for this event to help with the pace of play, carrying clubs, and to hopefully help with the children not losing interest as we try to get through 9 holes.

There will be on-course contests for the children, and competitions based on age and experience level. At the conclusion of the event, there will be fun games/events near the practice putting green and patio behind the 18th hole. Families are reminded to maintain social distancing and wear masks per the Club’s guidelines as usual.

Please Note: When signing up for this event, please indicate how many children will be attending with you, and their names.

Reminder: The intention of this event is to have fun playing golf with the children. Families can take it as serious or as fun as they want to. The concept is for all to have fun and to get the children out onto the course and accompany their parent/grandparent/etc. (Children playing in the event must be accompanied by an adult to supervise them while on the course. This is not a drop off where the children are to be left unattended!)

Time: MORNING TEE TIMES ASSIGNED BY PRO SHOP (you may request to play with another group and request an approximate tee time with the Pro Shop)

Cost: $160 / 2-Person Team

Format:

  • 2-Person Better Ball (1-Member, 1-Guest), 18 Holes with Individual Carts
  • Open to both Female and Male participants (divisions for both)
  • Members and Guests shall be from NYS or the Non-Quarantine States as published by NYS
  • Limited to the first 36 teams that sign up and pay in full (72 players total)
  • Player tournament gift
  • Cost includes breakfast, and barbecue (following play)
  • Cost includes automatic entry into Gross and Net Better Ball Team Event, Individual Skins (both Gross and Net), and all Closest To The Pin contests
  • *Prize Pool will be based on number of teams participating

  • **Hybrid tees for AGE+HANDICAP >= 90 in effect (must declare at time of registration, see Pro Shop for details)

Par 3 Tournament

Time: Tee Times Blocked Off Starting At 10:00 AM through NOON (this is being done to control the pace of play in this type of modified teeing ground event, if event play gets intertwined with normal play then pace becomes an issue).
Group and Tee Time Requests within the Blocked Off Times must be made through Pro Shop, Head Pro will make final tee times.

Cost: $10/Member (cash) *Greens Fees apply to Twilight members who play prior to Twilight Time **Ridings carts on a first-come first-serve basis

•2-Person Better Ball Medal Play (no handicap strokes for this event)
•18 Holes

THE PAR 3 TOURNAMENT SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19TH WILL BE FLIGHTED BASED ON COMBINED TEAM HANDICAP (INDEX).  THE NUMBER OF TEAMS IN EACH FLIGHT WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE PRO SHOP / COMMITTEE BASED ON SIGNUP.

Cost: $10 / person, payable in CASH day of event (Club Credit not accepted for form of payment).  Green fees will apply for Twilight Members who opt to play before the adopted Twilight start time.  Carts are not included in the event and are first come first serve due to high demand

MUST HAVE 10 18-HOLE SCORES ENTERED INTO THE RED HOOK GOLF CLUB HANDICAP SYSTEM IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE (PLEASE BE FOREWARNED THAT THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED)

Format:

  • Format:
    • 2-Person Teams
      • Holes #1 – #6: Alternate Shot
        • Prior to teeing off of #1, decide which team member will tee off from “ODD” numbered holes and which one will tee off from “EVEN” numbered holes. Alternate taking turns hitting shots until ball is holed out, and record score.
      • Holes #7 – #12: 2-Person Better Ball
        • Each player plays own ball, record best score on each hole among both players
      • Holes #13 – #18: Scramble
        • Both team members tee off. Select best drive, and then both team members hit shots from that location.  Repeat this process until ball is holed out.  Record score.
    • Men play from WHITE tees, Women play from RED tees
    • HYBRID tees for eligible males (AGE + WHITE TEE HDCP >= 90), must announce HYBRID TEEs at time of signup
    • Prizes for both Gross and Net, Pro Shop credit payouts dependent on number of teams signed up

2020 Men’s Club Championship – II

Date: August 8th, 9th, 15th, & 16th (sign up by Thursday, August 6th)** Weather Permitting **

Time: AM tee times, assigned by Pro Shop, Twilight fee applies,

Cost: $20 / person (CASH ONLY, cannot use club credit or credit/debit card toward payment)

Similar to how the RHGC Men’s Club Championship was conducted in 2016 and 2018, and based on membership input, the Tournament Committee has voted to conduct this year’s Club Championship in the following manner:

The first round (Saturday August 8th) of this year’s Men’s Club Championship will be conducted as a Medal Play qualifier (gross scores).  Your qualifying round score will then be used to establish your seed within an 8-person match play bracket within the respective flights.

For those interested in competing in the Championship Flight:

  • Entrance into the Championship Flight qualifying round is optional and open to all male members regardless of handicap. The golfer must simply indicate to the Pro Shop when signing up that they are attempting to qualify for the Championship Flight.
  • All play in the Championship Flight qualifier will be from the Blue Tees (all other flights will play from the White Tees).
  • The low 8 medal play gross scores within the Championship Flight qualifying round will move on to the Match Play bracketed field of 8 for the overall Club Championship.
  • The seeding of the Championship Flight will be based on the results of the qualifying round.
  • In case of ties for the seeds within the Championship Flight, the individual with the lower USGA index will receive the lower seed. In case of ties for the 8th and final spot for the Championship Flight, a playoff will be conducted by the Head Pro at his discretion.
  • For those individuals who competed in the Championship Flight qualifier but did not finish in the top 8, they will be positioned into their respective flights based on (a) handicap and then (b) qualifying score*. *The qualifying score will be adjusted accordingly based on course slope and rating between the blue and white tees.

 For those NOT interested in competing in the Championship Flight:

  • Sign up in Pro Shop and indicate that you are NOT interested in the Championship Flight
  • Upon conclusion of the qualifying round, the Pro Shop will arrange the Flights based on the following level of order:

1) USGA Index, and then

2) the qualifying score of the one-day medal play qualifier (gross scores).

*Pro Shop and Tournament Committee will use discretion on how to settle ties if necessary to determine seeds within flights if still tied after 1) and 2) above

The remaining three rounds (August 9th, 15th, 16th) will be conducted using an 8-person single elimination match-play bracket (gross only) for each respective Flight.  A “Beatens” bracket will NOT be created this year.  Once you lose a match, you are “out”.  Tournament Committee reserves the right to disallow participation for those who do not have at least TEN 18-hole scores posted in the 2020 system.

Time:  AM tee times, assigned by Pro Shop, Twilight fee applies

Cost:  $20 / person (CASH ONLY, cannot use club credit or credit/debit card toward payment)

Format:

  • Match Play Bracket (number of seeds will be based on sign-up)
  • Bracket seeding will be based on latest USGA handicap index posting
  • 100% Handicap will be in effect for entire tournament
  • All play will be from the Red tees
  • NOTE: NEED AT LEAST 8 PARTICIPANTS IN ORDER TO CONDUCT THIS TOURNAMENT

A “Beatens” bracket will NOT be created this year.  Once you lose a match, you are “out”.

Tournament Committee reserves the right to disallow participation for those who do not have at least TEN 18-hole scores posted in the 2020 system.
